This Little Fault of Mine

What’s a fault of yours?
I’ll admit one of mine.
I am easily discouraged.
The world says that nobody’s perfect.
No one is expected to be.
But perfect is still on the scale.
You’re just not allowed to reach it.
And everyone expects you to get it.
Get perfect grades.
Get perfect scores.
Have all the likes.
Be healthy. Be active.
Idleness is not allowed.
Always be posting.
Make sure the world sees you.
Do someone else’s job for them,
So they’ll like you–pick you.
Do all the things.
And do them perfectly.
Otherwise, you’re a fraud.
You’re not worth the risk.
So, against the mountain of things.
No one can be perfect at,
I often turn away and decide “that’s that.”
How could someone like me.
Compare to the perfect.
That no one can achieve,
But that everyone desires?
I spit on the perfect.
Curse it’s very name
For no one can be all the things.
So, from a disheartened heart to you.
You’re not alone if you think this is true
Nobody’s perfect. To thine self be true.
